Well I know that I promised I would post a couple of weeks ago, but I was too lazy that weekend - which seems to be a recurring theme in this household these days. I know that you guys have been wondering where I have been and how everything has been. Short story everything is going really well and I think I am afraid to talk about it because I am always afraid the bottom is going to fall out again. So here is my update....
10/5/2011 - My cerclage was placed. I really don't remember much about that day as they put me under general so I was pretty out of it. My OB told Chris that my cervix was already shortened and he was too upset to think about asking about actual numbers, all he could think of course was the worst. We came home and he left me to sleep so he could run some errands since he had the day off. I had some kind of weird reaction to the anesthesia and every muscle in my body hurt, I could barely move so that was a lot of fun and I was glad I took some time off.
I was off work for a week (took PTO), when I went back for my first day back my boss came and asked how I was and how everything went. I told her that my OB said the cervix was already shortening and she immediately said we are going to see what we can do about you working from home. She got the forms and got the approval so I am working from home 4 days a week.
I am so thankful for a boss who gets it. I think I can credit being able to work from home to the cerclage holding up so well (at least that's how I feel).
When I went on for my follow-up and next OB appointment I asked what my cervix length was on the day the cerclage was placed and it was 3.6 cm which while shorter than average is still good, so we weren't quite so worried anymore.
I got a really bad cold from someone at work (you know on the 1 day a week that I am going in), needless to say I was pretty ticked off about that. I was sick about a week or so, but I never really ran much of a fever. I still had a cough that I could just not get rid of. At about 18 weeks I was having some cramping and twinging in what felt like the cervical region so I went in to the OB. They did an ultrasound and measured my cervix which measured 3.5 cm, so that wasn't what was causing the pain, and they did a partial anatomy scan since I was there anyway just so we could be sure everything looked good with the baby.
The tech asked if I wanted to know what the sex was and I said no since Chris wasn't with me as this wasn't a scheduled appointment, but she asked again and of course I said yes lol. Saw the OB and they said that everything was just irritable from all the coughing and I was mildly dehydrated. Got some antibiotics and cough medicine and everything has been better since then.
When I left the OB I called Chris to tell him that everything looked good and that the coughing/dehydration was what was causing the irritation. I also told him I had a secret, of course he knew right away what my secret was. He said it's a (Baby's Name) and I said yes. (Sorry I don't want to announce the name until the baby is born). But I will tell you it's a BOY!!
We went back at 20 weeks (almost 21) for anatomy scan and everything looked really good and Chris really got to see the turtle and that's when it really hit him that he is going to have a son. He is just over the moon, it's so cute. Cervix was still measuring 3.5 cm so, so far so good.
I will be 25 weeks on Thursday (12/15). My OB said everything looked so good that I could wait a month to come in, my appointment is tomorrow (12/14) she didn't say anything about doing another scan to check the cervical length but I am not going to leave the office until they do, I just cannot handle not knowing everything still looks ok.
I am feeling more and more movement and kicks. The first real kick I felt made me come out of my chair and of course Chris thought it was hilarious - men!!
I am still nervous from time to time, but now that we have made it past the 2 major milestones I am better. We got past 19 w 6 days when we lost Cadynce, and now we have kit 24 weeks so each day is better.
Chris was born at 25 weeks in 1977 so that's his milestone he's waiting on. After that it's day by day. I really want to make it until 36 weeks when my cerclage will be removed, but will be grateful for every single say this little boy is cooking.
I hope that you guys are doing well. Sorry this is so long.
I will try not to be so long in between postings this time, but I am not going to promise..

I can't believe he was a 25 weeker in 1977. I'm new to following your story, so this is probably old news to most people, but really impresses me.
I like the idea of milestones making you feel better. I don't think that is the case with, I think I will get worse with time... But in my mind it's a question of delivering before death and the balance of viability and the crazy environment of the human body...
Good thoughts and everything your way.
Wonderful update! Congrats on 25 weeks and on a baby BOY. :) That is very neat that your hubby was born at 25 weeks and is doing so well. Weird coincidence too, huh. xo
I am so glad you are doing well. I've been wondering about you! I will send all good thoughts and pray that this baby cooks as long as possible.
Congrats on the milestones.
