Job Update & Cady's Bday

It's been a while.  Hope everyone is doing well.

I have been working at a contract HR job for a month now, I really like them there but it's 33 miles from the house and in really, really bad traffic.  I got a job offer at a place that I interviewed at before I was offered the contract position.  It is less than 15 miles from home but less money.  When I told the contract job that I would be leaving, they offered the job to me permanently with a raise.  I called my recruiter to tell her they offered me a full-time position to see if the other one would counter offer (it never hurts to ask right!) and she said that she would check and get back with me.  She called me Tuesday morning - they said YES and offered me 2,000 more a year than my initial offer!!!

We had decided that I would take the closer one just because because it was so much closer, a bigger company and awesome benefits (2 different medical plans - 1 pays up to 80% of IVF and the other pays 100% of a max of 3 IVFs - freaking-a dude!).  It's still less money, but its only 2k less than the job I lost in August so that's awesome!  I start Monday - I'm excited and I hope it will be a great opportunity and the people seemed nice.

It was a hard decision for me because the people at the contract job are really great and nice, but the drive...it takes me 1 hour to work and 1.5 hrs to get home and that SUCKED ASS folks.

I need to post about Cady's birthday, but I have to download the photos and.well...I'm lazy lol.

The day was a lot better than I thought it would be and I handled it a lot better than I thought I would.  We had a snafu with the balloons but I will tell you all about that when I actually post pictures.

Good to "hear" from you, Ali!

Congratulations on lining up another job so quickly. . . .well, two actually! That is quite an accomplishment in the present job market. And bonus that they have IVF benefits!

I am so happy for you! What a wonderful position to be in to be able to choose between two jobs. I know it's been a rough few months for many reasons, but hopefully there are more good things in the near future than not good.
